Google jumps on the fidget spinner trend.

If you’re not familiar with fidget spinners, it’s time to Google it—not only to learn about it, but to play with one too. Google has now added a digital spinner to Search.

Snapchat’s newest feature could be your biggest privacy threat.

Snap Map, a Snapchat feature that allows users to see friends’ locations, is causing personal problems as well as privacy ones. While Snapchatters can set who sees their location, some younger users may not realize they need to proceed with caution.

MARKETING

Cheetos Museum gets mad accolades.

It’s 2017, years after the first Jesus toast and arguably millions of years since people started finding animals in clouds. But it turns out, the idea doesn’t get old. The Cheetos Museum just cleaned up at Cannes—and sold a single Cheeto on eBay for $100,000.

Amazon joins the try-before-you-buy retail trend.

Amazon’s Prime Wardrobe is now in beta, joining Stitch Fix, Le Tote, Trunk Club, and other companies that allow customers to try on clothes before they buy them.

DESIGN

Techy suitcase is 5x overfunded on Kickstarter for a good reason.

The newest in fitness tech is not what you’d expect.

Herman Miller and Yves Behar have teamed up to create a new line of office furniture that lets you know when you’ve been sitting for too long.

INFLUENCERS

Sheryl Sandberg empowers advertisers, not just businesses.

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s chief operating officer, is not new to the fight for leadership equality between TED Talks and her book Lean In. In 2015 she introduced a new award at Cannes: the Glass Lion. It was created to celebrate advertising free from gender stereotypes, and this year a pretty special statue received the award.

EVENTS

Recovering from the long holiday weekend? Keep this Saturday low-key with French Fry Fest at SoMa StrEat Food Park. Then celebrate Sunday Funday with a free circus in Union Square, the Palo Alto Clay & Glass Festival, or a food truck picnic at the Presidio.

AND JUST FOR FUN

Move over, Pepe the Frog. The Internet has a new favorite.

The new meme taking the Internet by storm is dubbed “Lecturing Gorilla.” Is he giving a TED Talk? Is he a rambling professor? Or a pyramid-scheme salesman? It’s up to you—or the Internet—to decide.

“If you’re offered a seat on a rocket ship, don’t ask what seat! Just get on.”
